While many airlines are slowly but surely decreasing their first class offer, Delta is adopting the opposite strategy and announced that number of first class seats will be increased on 60% of their aircrafts operating domestic flights. 1200 new seats will be deployed until 2012.
NB : As far as I remember, the concept of First and Business Class on domestic flights on Delta is not the same as on long-haul ones and these seats, albeit much more comfortable than coach ones have few of the characteristics we can find on international flights.
Delta found an unusual way to promote this new announcement since their press released highlighted it would imply more upgrade opportunities for the airline’s frequent flyers (1 million more / year)
Moreover the airline announced they’ll invest in new full flat seats and a new IFE…what’s a good idea because the current one can hardly compete with what most of their competitors offer on long-haul flights.
